• Therigatha: Poetry of Enlightenment by Buddhism's First Women - Feb 25 |
As visible as the arts and artistic expression are in Zen and Tibetan Buddhism,
so too the Theravada tradition includes inspiring poetic expression pointing to the
experience of enlightenment.
Join us in discovering the Therigatha, a collection of the first Buddhist women
poets. The class will draw on this ancient text dating from contemporaries of the
Buddha's to women writers three hundred years after his death.
Come contemplate these beautiful works. Men and women are joyfully invited to
share in this experience. |

• Anapanasati: Mindfulness of the Breath - Mar 6 |
The class draws upon Larry Rosenberg’s book Breath by Breath and will focus On the Sixteen Contemplations of the Breath taken from the Ananpanasati Sutta And the Four Foundations of Mindulness.
The first class cultivates four contemplations in the Body Group leading to sensitivity and calming the whole body.
The second class cultivates four contemplations in the Feelings Group leading to sensitivity of pleasure and calmness and four contemplations in the Mind Group leading to steadiness and liberation.
The third class cultivates four contemplations in the Wisdom Group leading to a realization of impermanence which helps us relinquish or let go. |
